Canada One Family Network (COFN) 2026 Chinese New Year Celebration Successfully Concluded. Two Venues Celebrate the Spring Festival Together, Community Welcomes the Year of the Fire Horse

Toronto, February 2026 — The 2026 Chinese New Year celebrations hosted by Canada One Family Network (COFN) were successfully held last weekend at Bridlewood Mall and New Kennedy Square (Markham Temple Fair). The two-day events attracted large crowds of residents and families. Both venues were filled with festive energy, showcasing the vibrancy of multicultural unity within the community.

Bridlewood Mall Venue

The Spring Festival Carnival at Bridlewood Mall was held over the weekend. On the fifth day of the Chinese New Year, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow extended New Year greetings to local residents. She interacted warmly with community members and shop representatives and took photos with attendees, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere.

On the sixth day of the Chinese New Year, Member of Parliament Jean Yip, Member of Provincial Parliament Aris Babikian, and directors of the Bridlewood Mall board attended the celebration and officiated the traditional lion eye-dotting ceremony. Accompanied by the sound of drums and cymbals, the auspicious lions danced energetically, drawing large crowds and filling the venue with excitement. Representatives from the offices of MP Shaun Chen and Councillor Nick Mantas were also present to extend New Year wishes to the organizers and performers.

The two-day program featured a rich variety of performances, including instrumental music, vocal and band performances, Tai Chi demonstrations, and children’s and youth singing and dance showcases. Performers of all ages—from young children to seniors—shared the stage, delivering diverse performances that received continuous applause from the audience.

In addition to stage performances, interactive cultural experiences were offered, including Spring Festival calligraphy (Fai Chun writing), a traditional New Year tea reception (Cha Xi), a special exhibition of Yangliuqing New Year woodblock prints (originating from Jiangsu Province and Shanghai in southeastern China), a children’s “Year of the Horse” art activity, and the God of Fortune distributing lucky red envelopes. These activities attracted many children and enthusiasts of Chinese traditional culture, allowing participants to experience the warmth and richness of Lunar New Year traditions.

New Kennedy Square (Markham Temple Fair) Venue

The New Kennedy Square venue also hosted a vibrant two-day community stage program over the weekend. The celebrations attracted numerous families and community residents.

On the sixth day of the Chinese New Year, a six-lion “Choi Qing” (plucking the greens) ceremony symbolized smooth success throughout the year. Merchants at the plaza displayed red prosperity envelopes and invited lion dance teams to perform traditional blessing rituals, hoping for good fortune and prosperity in the Year of the Horse.

COFN’s Chinese New Year celebrations not only brought joy and harmony to the community but also strengthened connections and interaction among residents. Toronto, février 2026 — Les célébrations du Nouvel An chinois 2026 organisées par Canada One Family Network (COFN) ont eu lieu avec succès le week-end dernier au Bridlewood Mall et au New Kennedy Square (Foire du Temple de Markham). Ces activités de deux jours ont attiré un grand nombre de résidents et de familles. Les deux sites étaient animés d’une atmosphère festive, illustrant la vitalité et l’harmonie du multiculturalisme au sein de la communauté.

Le carnaval de la Fête du Printemps au Bridlewood Mall s’est déroulé tout au long du week-end. Le cinquième jour du Nouvel An chinois, la mairesse de Toronto, Olivia Chow, a adressé ses vœux du Nouvel An aux résidents locaux. Elle a échangé chaleureusement avec les membres de la communauté et les commerçants, et a pris des photos avec les participants, créant une ambiance conviviale et animée.

Le sixième jour du Nouvel An chinois, la députée fédérale Jean Yip, le député provincial Aris Babikian, ainsi que des directeurs du conseil du Bridlewood Mall ont assisté à la célébration et ont officié la traditionnelle cérémonie d’illumination des yeux du lion. Au rythme des tambours et des cymbales, les lions dansants ont captivé la foule, attirant de nombreux spectateurs et remplissant le site d’enthousiasme. Des représentants des bureaux du député Shaun Chen et du conseiller municipal Nick Mantas étaient également présents pour transmettre leurs vœux aux organisateurs et aux artistes.

Le programme de deux jours proposait une grande variété de spectacles : musique instrumentale, chants et performances de groupes, démonstrations de tai-chi, ainsi que des prestations de chant et de danse par des enfants et des jeunes. Des artistes de tous âges — des plus jeunes aux aînés — ont partagé la scène, offrant des performances diversifiées et chaleureusement applaudies par le public.

En plus des spectacles, diverses activités culturelles interactives étaient proposées, notamment l’écriture de calligraphies du Nouvel An (Fai Chun), une cérémonie traditionnelle du thé (Cha Xi), une exposition spéciale d’estampes du Nouvel An de Yangliuqing (originaires du Jiangsu et de Shanghai, dans le sud-est de la Chine), une activité artistique pour enfants sur le thème de l’« Année du Cheval », ainsi que la distribution d’enveloppes rouges porte-bonheur par le Dieu de la Fortune. Ces activités ont attiré de nombreux enfants et amateurs de culture traditionnelle chinoise, leur permettant de découvrir la richesse et la chaleur des traditions du Nouvel An lunaire.

Le site du New Kennedy Square a également présenté un programme communautaire dynamique sur scène pendant deux jours durant le week-end. Les célébrations ont attiré de nombreuses familles et résidents de la communauté.

Le sixième jour du Nouvel An chinois, la cérémonie du « Choi Qing » (cueillette des verdures) mettant en scène six lions symbolisait une année prospère et harmonieuse du début à la fin. Les commerçants du centre ont accroché des enveloppes rouges de prospérité et invité les troupes de danse du lion à accomplir le rituel traditionnel de bénédiction, dans l’espoir d’attirer chance et prospérité pour l’Année du Cheval.

Les célébrations du Nouvel An chinois organisées par COFN ont non seulement apporté joie et harmonie à la communauté, mais ont également renforcé les liens et les échanges entre les résidents. 两大会场齐贺新春，社区同庆丙午马年

多伦多，2026年2月 — 由 Canada One Family Network（COFN） 主办的 2026 年农历新年庆祝活动于上周末分别在 Bridlewood Mall 及 New Kennedy Square（新旺角万锦庙会） 成功举行。活动为期两天，吸引大量市民踊跃参与，现场人潮不断，节庆氛围浓厚，充分展现了社区多元文化共融的活力。

Bridlewood Mall 分会场

Bridlewood Mall  新春嘉年华活动于周末连续举行。 年初五，多伦多市长 邹至惠Olivia Chow 到场向本区市民致以新春问候 。随后与现场市民及商铺代表交流互动、合影留念，现场气氛热烈而融洽。

年初六，世嘉堡爱静阁国会议员叶嘉丽、省议员白必勤 以及 Bridlewood Mall 理事们共同出席活动，并为醒狮点睛。锣鼓齐鸣、瑞狮起舞，吸引大批市民驻足围观，现场一度人声鼎沸、水泄不通。同时，陈圣源议员的助手亦到场向主办方及演出团队致以新春祝贺。

为期两天的演出内容丰富多彩，涵盖乐器演奏、歌曲与乐队表演、太极展示以及儿童与青少年歌舞节目。表演者来自不同年龄层，从孩童到长者同台献艺，节目形式多样、精彩纷呈，现场掌声不断，来往人群络绎不绝。除舞台演出外，现场还特别设置了挥春书写、新春茶席，杨柳青年画特展，少儿绘马年，财神发利是等互动体验活动，吸引了众多小朋友及中国传统文化爱好者积极参与。孩子们在创作与体验中感受春节文化的魅力，在生活中增添了温馨而生动，浓厚而持久的年味。

New Kennedy Square（新旺角）分会场周末为期两天的社区舞台精彩纷呈，气氛热烈。农历新年庆祝活动，吸引众多家庭及社区居民到场参与。年初六的六头醒狮采青仪式， 预示新春开年六六大顺， 从年头顺到年尾，商场的商家也纷纷挂出生财红包，邀请舞狮采青，图个马上发财的好兆头 

一同家园文化中心主办的农历新年庆典不仅为市民带来了喜庆祥和的新春体验，也进一步加强了社区之间的联系与互动。主办方衷心感谢所有演出团队、义工、合作伙伴及市民朋友的积极参与与支持，使本次活动得以圆满完成。
