Canada One Family Network Launches the 5th World Music Festival in Unionville

UNIONVILLE, ON – July 17, 2026 – The 5th World Music Festival (TWMF), presented by Canada One Family Network, officially opened on July 17 at the Millennium Bandstand on Main Street Unionville, launching a three-day celebration of music, culture, and community that runs through July 19, 2026.

Supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage and proudly presented with Unionville BIA as the Title Sponsor, this year's festival brings together an exciting lineup of musicians and performers from diverse cultural backgrounds. Blending the timeless beauty of traditional musical heritage with contemporary original works, the festival offers audiences a vibrant celebration of Canada's multicultural spirit.

Friday evening's opening concert featured an energetic and diverse program that set the tone for the weekend. The audience was welcomed by the powerful "Drum Song" performance from the Markham Friendship Association, followed by colourful multicultural dance presentations by the Golden Era Arts Group.

The evening continued with performances by acclaimed Canadian singer-songwriters Wayne Madder and Hayley McLean, whose original music seamlessly blends blues, folk, and country influences. Festival-goers also enjoyed lively performances by the multicultural No Sugar Band, presenting a mix of traditional folk music and contemporary favourites that showcased the richness of Canada's diverse musical landscape.

Adding to the excitement, Steve Sum delighted audiences with beloved pop classics performed in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, while joining Peon Ho for a memorable duet that received enthusiastic applause from the crowd.

The celebration continues throughout Saturday and Sunday, featuring an even broader selection of world music performances, multicultural artists, community ensembles, and family-friendly entertainment, welcoming thousands of residents and visitors to experience music from around the globe.

The World Music Festival is a flagship cultural initiative of Canada One Family Network, dedicated to fostering intercultural dialogue, strengthening community connections, and promoting public appreciation of diverse musical traditions. The festival also provides valuable performance opportunities for local musicians and emerging artists while showcasing Canada's vibrant multicultural identity.

Now in its fifth year, the World Music Festival has become one of the signature summer cultural events serving the Scarborough–Markham community. Looking ahead, Canada One Family Network remains committed to expanding the festival's reach, welcoming even greater community participation, and building bridges between cultures through the universal language of music.



加拿大一同家园文化中心举办第五届世界音乐节隆重开幕

加拿大安大略省万锦市 Unionville —— 2026年7月17日 —— 由加拿大一同家园文化中心(Canada One Family Network,COFN)主办的第五届世界音乐节(The 5th World Music Festival, TWMF)于2026年7月17日在万锦市Unionville Main Street的Millennium Bandstand隆重开幕,正式开启为期三天(7月17日至19日)的音乐、文化与社区庆典。


本届音乐节获得加拿大文化遗产部(Department of Canadian Heritage)的大力支持,并由Unionville BIA荣誉冠名赞助。音乐节汇聚了来自不同文化背景的优秀音乐家及艺术团体,通过融合传统音乐文化的经典魅力与当代原创音乐作品,为观众呈现一场展现加拿大多元文化精神的国际音乐盛宴。


周五晚上的开幕音乐会节目精彩纷呈,为整个周末的庆典揭开序幕。活动首先由**万锦友乐天地长者协会带来气势磅礴的《开场锣鼓》演出,以震撼鼓乐点燃现场气氛;随后金色年华艺术团献上绚丽多彩的多元文化歌舞节目,赢得现场观众热烈掌声。


当晚,加拿大知名原创歌手Wayne Madder及Hayley McLean联袂登台演出,两位音乐人以融合蓝调(Blues)、民谣(Folk)及乡村音乐(Country)元素的原创作品,为观众带来富有感染力的音乐体验。


来自多元文化背景的青律乐坊亦带来了精彩演出,乐队融合中西方乐器、传统民谣与现代流行音乐,以充满活力的表演展现加拿大丰富多元的音乐文化特色,受到现场观众一致好评。

此外,实力歌手Steve Sum演唱多首广受欢迎的经典流行歌曲,并以英语、粤语及普通话三种语言演绎不同风格作品,展现其深厚的音乐实力。他与Peon Ho合作献唱的精彩对唱更将现场气氛推向高潮,赢得观众阵阵喝彩。


音乐节将在周六及周日继续举行,更丰富的世界音乐演出、多元文化艺术家、社区表演团体及适合全家参与的精彩节目将陆续登场,预计吸引数以千计的居民及游客前来,共同体验来自世界各地的音乐文化魅力。


世界音乐节是加拿大一同家园文化中心重点打造的品牌文化项目,致力于促进不同文化之间的交流与理解,加强社区联系,并提升公众对世界各地音乐文化传统的认识与欣赏。同时,音乐节亦为本地音乐人及新晋艺术家提供舞台表演的平台。
