Canada One Family Network Successfully Concludes the 4th World Music Festival

The 4th World Music Festival, hosted by Canada One Family Network, came to a successful

close on August 24, 2025, at the central stage of Bridlewood Mall (2900 Warden Ave).

Supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage, and with title sponsorship from United

Fencing Center / Axis Fencing Club. the three-day festival blended the timeless charm of

traditional instruments with the freshness of contemporary original works, offering audiences a

rich celebration of cultural diversity.

The festival opened on Friday evening, August 22, with a bamboo flute solo by Richmond Hill

Councillor Simon Cui, featuring both timeless classics and contemporary favorites. Guqin artist

Yanyan Zhu followed with an improvised performance. The evening continued with Corsh

Music delivering lively pop songs, bringing a fresh and vibrant start to the event.

Saturday’s program highlighted both young talents and seasoned artists. MK Singing School

delivered a lively performance blending Chinese and Western classics, followed by a liuqin solo

from young musician Sherry. One of the day’s most anticipated performances was the pipa solo

by Lilian Yang, a renowned performer and educator whose artistry has graced major stages in

Beijing and across Canada. Her expressive and masterful playing deeply moved the audience.

The program continued with a display of traditional martial arts by the One Family Network Tai

Chi Cultural Training Center, led by national coach Hui Lan Li, featuring Baduanjin and Tai Chi

fan routines that embodied both grace and strength. Closing the evening, Steve Sum performed

beloved pop songs in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, joined by Peon Ho in a duet, bringing

the day’s performances to a memorable close.

Sunday’s program opened with Lianlian Opera presenting the Peking opera vocal and dance

piece Ode to the Plum Blossom. Award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter Wayne Madder

then took the stage, celebrated for his original music blending blues, folk, and country. The

festival came to a close with Mike Zhou’s heartfelt erhu solo, bringing the festival to a moving

finale.

The World Music Festival is a flagship initiative of Canada One Family Cultural Center,

dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and promoting public appreciation of diverse musical

traditions. It also serves as a stage for local artists to share their talents with the community, and

has become a signature summer cultural event in the Scarborough–Markham area. Looking

ahead, the festival will continue to welcome even more community participation.

Canada One Family Network clôt avec succès le 4ᵉ Festival mondial de musique

Le 4ᵉ Festival mondial de musique, organisé par Canada One Family Network, s’est clôturé avec

succès le 24 août 2025 sur la scène centrale du centre commercial Bridlewood (2900, avenue

Warden). Soutenu par le ministère du Patrimoine canadien, et avec le parrainage principal de

United Fencing Center / Axis Fencing Club, ce festival de trois jours a marié l’élégance

intemporelle des instruments traditionnels à la fraîcheur des créations contemporaines, offrant au

public une véritable fête artistique et multiculturelle.

Le festival s’est ouvert le vendredi soir 22 août avec un solo de flûte de bambou présenté par

Simon Cui, conseiller municipal de Richmond Hill, interprétant à la fois des classiques

intemporels et des airs contemporains. L’artiste de guqin Yanyan Zhu a ensuite offert une

performance improvisée. La soirée s’est poursuivie avec Corsh Music qui a animé le public par

des chansons pop dynamiques, donnant au festival un départ frais et vibrant.

Le programme du samedi a mis en valeur à la fois de jeunes talents et des artistes chevronnés.

L’école de chant MK Singing School a offert une prestation énergique mêlant des classiques

chinois et occidentaux, suivie d’un solo de liuqin interprété par la jeune musicienne Sherry. L’un

des moments forts de la journée fut le solo de pipa de Lilian Yang, artiste et pédagogue

renommée, qui s’est produite sur les grandes scènes de Pékin et du Canada. Son jeu raffiné et

expressif a profondément touché le public. La soirée s’est poursuivie avec une démonstration

d’arts martiaux traditionnels par le Centre culturel de tai-chi de One Family Network, dirigé par

l’entraîneure nationale Hui Lan Li, présentant des routines de Baduanjin et de tai-chi à l’éventail

alliant souplesse et vigueur. Enfin, Steve Sum a interprété des chansons populaires en anglais, en

cantonais et en mandarin, avant de conclure la journée par un duo avec Peon Ho, offrant une fin

mémorable au programme.

Le programme du dimanche s’est ouvert avec Lianlian Opera qui a présenté l’œuvre vocale et

dansée de l’opéra de Pékin Ode à la fleur de prunier. Le chanteur-compositeur canadien primé

Wayne Madder est ensuite monté sur scène, reconnu pour sa musique originale mêlant blues,

folk et country. Le festival s’est achevé sur le solo d’erhu empreint d’émotion de Mike Zhou,

offrant une finale émouvante au festival.

Le Festival mondial de musique est une initiative phare du Centre culturel Canada One Family,

visant à favoriser les échanges culturels et à encourager l’appréciation publique des traditions

musicales variées. Il offre également une scène aux artistes locaux pour présenter leurs talents à

la communauté et est devenu un rendez-vous culturel estival incontournable dans la région de

Scarborough–Markham. À l’avenir, le festival continuera d’accueillir une participation toujours

plus large de la communauté.

加拿大同一家园圆满举办第四届世界音乐节

由加拿大一同家园文化中心主办的第四届世界音乐节于2025年8月24日在Bridlewood购物

中心中央舞台（2900 Warden Ave）成功落下帷幕。此次为期三天的音乐盛会得到加拿大

文化遗产部的资助，并由United Fencing Center / Axis Fencing Club冠名赞助。今年的音乐

节汇聚传统乐器的古韵，也有当代原创作品的清新，为观众呈现了一场多元文化交融的艺

术盛宴。

音乐节于8月22日周五晚间拉开序幕，首先由列治文山市议员崔冰辉Simon Cui带来笛箫独

奏，演绎经典古曲和当代神曲，古琴家朱彦晏Yanyan Zhu即兴演奏古琴曲。随后是Corsh

Music演绎的现代流行歌曲，为观众带来清新热烈的开场。

周六的演出融合了青年与资深艺术家的风采。MK Singing School带来充满活力的歌唱表

演，融汇中西名曲。接着由青年Sherry演奏柳琴独奏。当天最受瞩目的节目之一是 杨晓磊

Lilian Yang 的琵琶独奏。这位知名的演奏家和教育者，技艺精湛，情感细腻，足迹遍及

北京及加拿大的重要舞台。为观众带来极具感染力的琵琶曲目。随后，一同家园太极文化

训练中心在国家级教练 李蕙兰 的带领下，以一场八段锦和太极扇表演展现了中华传统武

术刚柔并济的神韵与风采。最后，沈国强Steve Sum 演唱经典英粤国语流行歌曲，并与 何

佩恩Peon Ho合唱，为当天的演出画上完美句点。

周日的演出以Lianlian Opera带来的京剧声乐与舞蹈作品《梅花颂》开场，随后，加拿大

获奖创作歌手 Wayne Madder 登台演出，他以融合布鲁斯、民谣和乡村元素的原创音乐而

广受赞誉。音乐节最终在周和平Mike Zhou充满深情的二胡独奏中圆满落幕。

世界音乐节是加拿大一同家园文化中心推动文化交流、促进公众欣赏多元音乐传统的重点

项目。同时，这一平台也为本地艺术家提供了展示才华、走向社区的舞台，并成为士嘉堡

—万锦社区夏季重要文化品牌，并在未来吸引更多社区成员的参与。
