Markham–Thornhill, Ontario – 2026

Canada One Family Network (COFN) was pleased to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs 2026 Appreciation Event, hosted by the Markham–Thornhill Constituency Office of the Honourable Tim Hodgson, Member of Parliament.

The event brought together local community organizations, employers, community leaders and partners to recognize the important role of Canada Summer Jobs in creating meaningful employment and learning opportunities for young people.

COFN was honoured to be part of this community gathering and to connect with fellow organizations and community leaders who share a commitment to supporting youth and strengthening inclusive communities.

Creating Opportunities for Youth

Canada One Family Network recognizes that summer employment can provide young people with much more than a job. It can offer opportunities to gain practical workplace experience, develop new skills, build confidence, connect with mentors and become more actively engaged in their communities.

Through its community programs and activities, COFN continues to create opportunities for youth to participate in cultural festivals, community events, arts and performance programs, volunteer activities, communications and media projects, and multicultural community initiatives.

These experiences help young people develop leadership, teamwork, communication and organizational skills while encouraging them to contribute to the communities in which they live.

Building an Inclusive and Connected Community

COFN was grateful for the opportunity to meet with local organizations and community leaders at the appreciation event and to share ideas about how community organizations can continue working together to create inclusive opportunities for young people.

COFN believes that collaboration among government, community organizations, employers, cultural groups and volunteers is essential to building stronger communities and ensuring that young people from diverse backgrounds have opportunities to participate and succeed.

“We are very grateful to the Markham–Thornhill Constituency Office and to Minister Tim Hodgson for recognizing the important work of community organizations and for supporting opportunities for young people,” said Yan Yan, Canada One Family Network. “COFN is proud to continue working with community partners to provide young people with meaningful opportunities to learn, participate, volunteer and contribute to our multicultural community.”

Looking Ahead

Canada One Family Network looks forward to continuing its collaboration with government representatives, community organizations and local partners to support youth engagement, mentorship, employment opportunities and community participation.

COFN extends its appreciation to the Hon. Tim Hodgson, MP, and the Markham–Thornhill Constituency Office for organizing the Canada Summer Jobs 2026 Appreciation Event and for recognizing the contributions of organizations working to create positive opportunities for young people across the community.

Together, we can continue building a more inclusive, connected and vibrant community where young people have opportunities to learn, grow and make a difference.
