The 5 th Asian Heritage Arts Festival – GrandOpening of The Canadian Calligraphers Art Exhibition onthe Theme of “Peace”

On May 31, 2025, The Canadian Calligraphers Art Exhibition on the Theme of “Peace” , hosted by the Atlantic Calligraphy Association, was grandly unveiled at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto. As a key event of the Asian Heritage Culture Festival, the exhibition brings together forty outstanding local calligraphers, showcasing over sixty exceptional works in a variety of script styles, including regular, cursive, clerical, seal, and running scripts. The exhibition highlights the aesthetic richness of Chinese calligraphy through its strokes, structure, composition, and layout, embodying the literati ideal that unites poetry, calligraphy, painting, and seal carving into one harmonious artistic realm.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Su Fang, President of the Atlantic Calligraphy Association; Ms. Zhu Yanyan, Chair of Canada One Family Network; Mr. Yu Congzhang, President of the Atlantic Cultural and Arts Exchange Association; and Mr. Zhang Jian, Chair of the Federation of Chinese Cultural and Arts Organizations in Canada, each delivered welcome remarks. They expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the participating calligraphers and artists for their enthusiastic involvement and celebrated the event as a high-level cultural feast for Asian Heritage Month.

Member of Parliament for Scarborough North, Shaun Chen, attended the event in person and extended his congratulations on its successful opening, acknowledging the exhibition's valuable contribution to promoting Asian heritage. Richmond Hill City Councillor Simon Cui also sent a congratulatory letter, thanking the Atlantic Calligraphy Association for providing an excellent platform for the community to come together and appreciate the art of calligraphy. He extended his best wishes for the exhibition’s success and smooth completion.

Other speakers included Mr. Larry Deng, President of the Atlantic Photographers Association; Ms. Chen Yan, Vice President of the Atlantic Artists Association; Mr. Li Xiangmin, representing the participating calligraphers; and Mr. Wang Shihua, representing the event’s sponsors—all of whom offered their congratulations and support.

The central theme of this calligraphy exhibition is Peace, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War. The idea of "Remembering history, safeguarding peace" resonates deeply throughout the showcased works.

Among the highlights are contributions from two senior advisors of the Atlantic Calligraphy Association. Master Ren Jinchang, an 81-year-old artist, wrote the two characters for “peace” (和平) in bold strokes on a full four-foot sheet. Meanwhile, Master Li Xiangmin, former Director of the Longmen Grottoes Research Institute, now aged 78, contributed two striking works in vermilion and ink—each bearing the characters 和平 (Peace) and 勝利 (Victory), also in four-foot vertical scroll format. Their powerful and dignified brushwork lends profound artistic weight to the exhibition, serving as its crowning touch.

Alongside the exhibition, a series of refined cultural gatherings (雅集) were held, featuring poetry, guqin music, tea ceremony, and seal carving. Vice President of the Association, Huang Zanyang, recited his original poem Calligraphy, evoking the long tradition of Chinese calligraphy with the lines: “From Wei and Jin to Ming and Qing, at the start of late spring, after Cold Food Festival—black and white ink stains embody the elegance of the East.”

Mr. Song Jian followed with a passionate recitation of classical poetry, including Su Shi’s To the Tune of Ding Feng Bo, delivered with rich emotion and cadence. Both poems were accompanied by spontaneous guqin improvisation by renowned musician Zhu Yanyan. The resonance between zither and verse brought ancient poetry to life, the melodies lingering in the air like echoes of a bygone time.

Meanwhile, Wang Mingming, a senior tea artist from Ming Tea’s Training, hosted an elegant tea ceremony that was warmly received by guests and visitors alike. Calligrapher Bi Yunlai created a seal on site, carving the characters 不跪 (“Do Not Kneel”), which drew an engaged and thoughtful audience response.

During the event, host Song Jian invited participating calligraphers to share the inspiration and concepts behind their works. In a gesture of collective artistic expression, ten esteemed calligraphers—Li Xiangmin, Rui Jiaqing, Wang Shihua, Song Jian, Ren Jinchang, Su Fang, Zhang Guosheng, Guan Suisheng, Huang Zanyang, and Liu Kai—collaboratively wrote the couplet:

       “Danqing captures the charm of maple; brush and ink express the spirit of peace”

       丹青寄楓韻，翰墨抒和平

Renowned calligrapher and educator Yu Ansheng spontaneously inscribed a dedication on the piece. Together, the eleven artists brought this elegant and meaningful couplet to life as a shared work of artistry and intent.

Le 5e Festival des Arts du Patrimoine Asiatique – Grande Ouverture de l’Exposition d’Art des Calligraphes Canadiens sur le Thème de la « Paix »

Le 31 mai 2025, l’Exposition d’Art des Calligraphes Canadiens sur le thème de la « Paix », organisée par l’Association Atlantique de Calligraphie, a été inaugurée en grande pompe au Centre Culturel Chinois du Grand Toronto. S’inscrivant dans le cadre du Festival des arts et traditions culturelles asiatiques, cette exposition réunit quarante calligraphes locaux talentueux, présentant plus de soixante œuvres remarquables en divers styles d’écriture – régulière, cursive, cléricale, sigillaire et semi-cursive. Elle met en valeur la beauté artistique de la calligraphie chinoise à travers ses traits, sa structure, sa composition et sa mise en page, reflétant l’idéal lettré de l’union entre poésie, calligraphie, peinture et gravure de sceaux.

Lors de la cérémonie d’ouverture, M. Su Fang, président de l’Association des calligraphes de l’Atlantique, Mme Zhu Yanyan, présidente du centre culturel One Family Network Canada, M. Yu Congzhang, président de l’Association d’échanges culturels et artistiques de l’Atlantique, ainsi que M. Zhang Jian, président de la Fédération des organismes culturels et artistiques chinois du Canada, ont tour à tour prononcé un discours de bienvenue. Ils ont exprimé leur vive gratitude envers les calligraphes et artistes participants pour leur engagement enthousiaste, saluant cet événement comme un véritable festin culturel à l’occasion du Mois du patrimoine asiatique.

M. Shaun Chen, député fédéral représentant la circonscription de Scarborough-Nord, était présent pour féliciter les organisateurs et saluer la contribution précieuse de l’exposition à la valorisation de la culture asiatique. M. Simon Cui, conseiller municipal de Richmond Hill, a également envoyé une lettre de félicitations, remerciant l’Association des calligraphes de l’Atlantique d’avoir offert à la communauté une magnifique plateforme pour se rassembler et apprécier les œuvres exposées. Il a exprimé ses vœux de réussite pour l’exposition.

Parmi les autres intervenants figuraient M. Larry Deng, président de l’Association des photographes de l’Atlantique, Mme Chen Yan, vice-présidente de l’Association des artistes de l’Atlantique, M. Li Xiangmin, représentant des calligraphes exposants, ainsi que M. Wang Shihua, représentant des commanditaires de l’événement. Tous ont exprimé leurs félicitations chaleureuses.

Cette exposition de calligraphie met à l’honneur le thème de la paix, en écho au 80e anniversaire de la victoire de la guerre mondiale antifasciste. Le message « Se souvenir de l’histoire, veiller à la paix » est profondément inscrit dans de nombreuses œuvres présentées.

Parmi les pièces maîtresses figurent celles de deux conseillers de l’Association des calligraphes de l’Atlantique. Maître Ren Jinchang, artiste de 81 ans, a calligraphié avec vigueur les deux caractères « paix » (和平) sur une feuille entière de quatre pieds. Maître Li Xiangmin, ancien directeur de l’Institut de recherche des grottes de Longmen, âgé de 78 ans, a réalisé deux œuvres saisissantes en rouge et en noir, portant respectivement les caractères 和平 (paix) et 勝利 (victoire), également en format de rouleaux verticaux de quatre pieds. Leur écriture vigoureuse et majestueuse donne une profondeur artistique remarquable à l’exposition, en constituant l’un des moments forts.

Parallèlement à l’exposition, plusieurs activités culturelles raffinées ont eu lieu, telles que des lectures de poésie, des performances de guqin, une cérémonie du thé et une démonstration de gravure de sceaux. Le vice-président de l’Association, M. Huang Zanyang, a récité son poème original Calligraphie, dans lequel il célèbre des siècles de tradition à travers ces vers : « De Wei et Jin jusqu’à Ming et Qing, au début du printemps tardif, après la fête du Han-shi — le noir et le blanc diffusent l’élégance de l’Orient. »

M. Song Jian a ensuite récité avec émotion des poèmes classiques, notamment À l’air de Ding Feng Bo de Su Shi, interprétés avec intensité et justesse. Les deux poèmes ont été accompagnés à l’improviste par Mme Zhu Yanyan, maître de guqin, dont les mélodies délicates ont sublimé les mots et offert une expérience poétique d’une profonde résonance.

Mme Wang Mingming, maître de cérémonie du thé de haut niveau de Ming Tea's Training, a présenté un service de thé élégant, très apprécié des invités et des visiteurs. Enfin, le calligraphe Bi Yunlai a gravé en direct un sceau portant les caractères 不跪 (« Ne pas s’agenouiller »), suscitant curiosité et réflexion parmi le public.

Au cours de l’événement, l’animateur Song Jian a invité les calligraphes participants à présenter leur démarche artistique et la signification de leurs œuvres. Dans un élan de création collective, dix calligraphes éminents — Li Xiangmin, Rui Jiaqing, Wang Shihua, Song Jian, Ren Jinchang, Su Fang, Zhang Guosheng, Guan Suisheng, Huang Zanyang et Liu Kai — ont collaboré pour calligraphier la paire de vers suivante :

       « Le pinceau aux couleurs vives saisit le charme de l’érable ; l’encre élégante exprime l’esprit de paix »

       丹青寄楓韻，翰墨抒和平

La célèbre pédagogue et calligraphe Yu Ansheng a ensuite apposé une dédicace improvisée sur l’œuvre. Cette création collective, fruit de l’union de onze artistes, constitue une œuvre raffinée et profondément symbolique.

La rencontre calligraphique s’est ensuite déroulée officiellement, rassemblant de nombreux artistes venus écrire et échanger, dont : Su Fang, Li Xiangmin, Huang Zanyang, Yu Ansheng, Lei Chuanxiang, Li Xiaoyong, Zhang Guosheng, Rui Jiaqing, Bi Yunlai, Ren Jinchang, Wang Shihua, Song Jian, Liu Kai, Hui Ling, Hou Qiwang, Wu Manxue, Ma Yinghu, Zhu Yanyan, Peter Lin, ainsi que de nouveaux membres et invités présents sur place.

On tient à saluer tout particulièrement les jeunes bénévoles, notamment Zhang Zixin, qui, en plus de leur aide logistique sur le terrain, ont contribué à promouvoir la généreuse donation de près de dix exemplaires du nouvel ouvrage Parler calligraphie, évoquer les maîtres (談書法話名家), offert par M. Chen Hanzhong, célèbre calligraphe torontois et conseiller de l’Association.

L’exposition Rythmes d’encre et d’érable a non seulement révélé le charme intemporel de l’art calligraphique, mais elle a aussi favorisé la transmission et le dialogue des cultures asiatiques au sein d’une société pluraliste, insufflant une belle énergie culturelle à la communauté.

亞裔傳統文化藝術節第七場——「楓和墨韻」書法展隆重開幕

2025年5月31日，由大西洋書法家協會主辦的「楓和墨韻」書法展在加拿大多倫多大中華文化中心隆重揭幕。作為亞裔傳統文化藝術節的重要組成部分，本次展覽集結了四十位本地優秀書法藝術家，展出涵蓋真、草、隸、篆、行等多種書體的六十餘幅書法篆刻佳作，展示了中國書法「點畫、結構、章法、佈局」的藝術之美，體現了傳統詩書畫印合一的文人藝術境界。

開幕儀式上，大西洋書法家協會會長蘇方先生，加拿大一同家園文化中心主席朱彥晏女士，大西洋文化藝術交流協會會長于琮章，以及加拿大華人文化藝術團體聯誼會主席張儉，先后致歡迎辭，感謝熱愛書法藝術的書家及藝術家們的積極參與，並共同為聯邦亞裔文化月獻上一場高水平的社區文化盛宴。加拿大國會議員、士嘉堡北選區代表陳聖源先生親臨現場祝賀活動成功舉辦，並肯定書法展對弘揚亞裔傳統文化所作的貢獻。列治文山市議員Simon崔也發來賀信，感謝大西洋書法家協會向廣大社區成員提供了一個大家相聚在一起欣賞大西洋書法家協會作品的極佳平台。並衷心祝願本次活動成功舉辦並完滿結束！大西洋攝影家協會會長Larry鄧先生，大西洋美術家協會副會長陳燕女士，參展書法家代表李祥民先生，以及本次活動贊助商代表汪士華先生也都先後發言表示祝賀！

本次書法展以「和平」為主題，呼應世界反法西斯戰爭勝利八十週年。「銘記歷史，守望和平」的理念深植於眾多作品之中。其中，兩位大西洋書協顧問：81歲高齡的藝術家任金昌老師以四尺整紙書寫「和平」兩字，78歲高齡的前龍門石窟研究院院長李祥民老師以朱墨所書兩幅四尺中堂“和平”和“勝利”四字，蒼勁有力，氣勢非凡，成為本次展覽的點睛之筆。

展覽現場同時舉辦了詩詞、古琴、茶道、篆刻等雅集活動：协会副会长黃贊揚老師以其自作诗《書法》，吟诵了“从魏晋来到明清，暮春之初，寒食之后，黑白——晕染了东方的风流”这一书法千年的咏叹；宋堅老師朗誦古典詩詞，一曲苏轼的《定风波》起伏跌宕，声情并茂。两首诗词都由古琴名家朱彥晏老师即興伴奏，琴随诗意，词伴琴音，余音绕梁不绝，将诗情词意演绎的古韵幽鸣；Ming Tea's Training高級茶藝師汪明明則奉上一場雅致茶席，深受嘉宾和来访者的欢迎；書法家畢雲來現場篆刻印章「不跪」二字，引發现场观众的围观和共鳴。

主持人宋堅邀請參展書法家簡介其作品理念，並由李祥民、芮家慶、汪士華、宋堅、任金昌、蘇方、張國升、關穗生、黃贊揚、劉鍇等十位書法家共同書寫「丹青寄楓韻，翰墨抒和平」以表心志，知名書畫教育家余岸聲女士即興題款，十一位書法家共同合作完成了這幅精美對聯。

隨後筆會正式展開，參與書寫與交流的藝術家包括：蘇方、李祥民、黃贊揚、余岸聲、雷傳祥、李曉勇、張國昇、芮家慶、畢雲來、任金昌、汪士華、宋堅、劉鍇、卉靈、侯啟旺、吳漫雪、馬穎瑚、朱彥晏與 Peter Lin以及現場新入會的書友和來賓等等。值得稱贊的是張子欣等義工小朋友，在現場服務之余，還努力幫忙推薦協會顧問，多倫多著名書法家陳漢忠老師捐贈本會的新書《談書法話名家》近十本。

此次「楓和墨韻」書法展不僅呈現了書法藝術的傳統魅力，也促進了亞裔文化在多元社會中的傳承與交流，為社區注入豐沛的文化能量。
